The lighter side of recruiting
I used to do the coffee thing at "the Annex Boardroom" with some really cool and very well-informed gen-xers, whom I considered at the "elite" level of Recruiting Strategies. We talked about who's who, what's going on, and what the next "killer-app" of recruiting is. But most of all, we exchanged stories and experiences that made us laugh. What's recruiting without a little humour?
I hope to kick start this particular Forum to focus on the lighter side of recruiting -- experiences to make us laugh. So send in your most memorable, most funny and/or most bizarre recruiting experience and entertain us!
Here's a recent story that a headhunter friend of mine recently shared with me. One of her candidates was being interviewed by a client. The client was so impressed with this candidate that she asked if he could stay a little longer to meet the VP, who was key to closing the deal. She left the candidate in her office to track down the VP.
Now there was a distinct trait about this candidate -- he was bald. When the hiring manager returned with the VP, she was surprised to find someone different in her office -- a candidate with a full head of hair. While she was busy securing the VP interview, he apparently was busy securing his toupee.
When my headhunter friend debriefed with him, she asked for his rationale on the toupee maneouvre. He mentioned that he was in a rush in the morning and didn't have the time to "top up with the toupee". So he stashed it in his bag with the hopes of an opportune time to enhance his features with the locks....
He didn't get the job at the end of the day.
....Share your experience!!
