Where are the Sales Recruiters?

Does everyone focus on IT recruitment these days? As I search diligently for recruiters who focus on finding sales people (I'm talking B2B, technical sales, not retail), it seems that 90+% of us have an almost exclusive technology portfolio. Any thoughts?

As a new member to this site, I'm not sure if I am allowed to self-promote or not but I have been a Sales recruiter for years. I have actually been looking at doing some contract IT placements just to mix it up a bit and to generate a different type of revenue stream. I know a number of contract placement recruiters and have been able to learn a fair bit about this side of the business and it does look interesting. If anyone does need names of sales recruiters, however, I may have a couple.

There is a company in Ottawa which is doing just that. Peak Sales Recruiting, www.peaksalesrecruiting.com specializes in recruiting only sales positions for high tech. They have an interesting Blog on tips on hiring sales people. What to look for in an sales resume etc. Many of their team of recruiters came not from a recruiting background but a sales background.

Sales Recruiters

Hi,

We are finding a big demand for sales recruiters and have just hired two recently for our firm. Our experience is that the technology orders might be easier to get originally. We have seen a large spike in demand for inside and outside sales recruitment for service oriented organizations. All the financial service companies are desperate for good sales people.

We have been hiring recruiters that were sales people in some cases and teaching them how to recruit. It is working well to this point:)
