Diversity in the workplace

We are currently looking for new ways of attracting a more diverse candidate pool. Does anyone know of agency's, job fairs or other programs that focus in this particular area.

Also has anybody initiated any special programs at their company to address this issue.

Attracting Diversity candidates

Hi,

One job fair that may work for you is the People in Motion show that usually takes place in the spring. All the banks and a few agencies attend. It is specifically for recruiting persons with disabilities.

If you are looking to attract newcomers to Canada. A great source might be Career Bridge (www.careerbridge.ca) They will provide funding and I know organizations that have found this to be successful.

If you are looking to attract aborignal candidates you might want to try an organization called Miziwie Biik (www.miziwebiik.com) or try 416 591-0746. They are an aboriginal organization that provide training and job counselling for aboriginal persons.

Our firm (StaffLink Solutions - www.stafflink.ca) has a division that specializes in placing persons with disabilities. We have developed this division over the last five years and currently have 80 contract workers that are persons with disability and have placed people in permenant roles with companies like Amex, CIBC, TD Bank and Edulinx.
