Referral Programs

Hello everyone,
I'm looking to update our Referral Fees (internal). Hoping my fellow recruiters could advise on what's the current trend. What amounts are being paid? What restrictions / criteria is popular? ie. level, p/t vs f/t, etc.

I'm in the commerical real estate industry, however, feedback from all industries is valuable information.

Thanks
Corette

Referral Programs

Hi Corette,
We have one referral program in our company but the "currency" is different for each LOB. At AIR MILES, referrals are awarded Air Miles Reward Miles for successful referrals while other divisions give cash. The award depends on level of hire (the number of AIR Miles issued is equivalent in value to the cash awarded at other LOB's):
Junior Positions: $300.00
Management level hires: $750.00
Executive Hires: $1500.00

We also have staff who are excluded from participating:
Senior Leadership Team (Directors and above)
Members of the Human Resources Department
The Hiring Manager or anyone involved in the decision to hire.

Referral fees

Corette, we offer a referal fee of $1,000 per full time hire. On occasion we increase the referral fee to $3,500 for difficult to fill positions. The program is applicable to all employees except:

Members of Sr. Management
Members of the Human Resources Department
Managers and Assistant Vice-Presidents for referrals to departments within their scope of control
Employees who are directly involved in the hiring process/decision

Referral program

Corette, my current employer and former employer both have a referral program with a similar structure. Awards are paid according to level. In one case from $1500 to $4500 and in another from $1500 to $3000. Hiring Managers and HR/Recruiters are not eligible for award nor anyone involved in the hiring decision. Referrals must be recieved online in order to be documented and validated. The referral should only be active for a certain time period so that someone can not make a claim 2-3 years down the road. Lastly, referrals that have also been recieved through another means i.e. agency, campus, are not eligible. Hope that helps
