HRIS - wish list

Hi. I am researching for a client the ideal needs/wants/nice to have's in an HRIS system. I need to identify necessary fields/features/capabilities for an HRIS system for a company, wish under 750 employees.Client looking to upgrade (payroll) system; in use is a customized time and attendance product. I would appreciate learning tips from others who have recently implemented an HRIS system. Thx, Angie

HRMS needs analysis

Hi Angie,

I don't think you can look to market or a network for needs, I think you need to look at the client for that. And beyond what the execs may tell you - to sitting down with functional users and speaking about current points of pain, missing features, desired features, workflow, bottlenecks, etc. Once you have that requirements analysis, then you can look to market for a system to meet those. The other two cents that I can pass along, is that unless money is no object, you should prioritize those requirements and be prepared for trade offs. Although systems have come a loooong way in even the past year or so, you are not likely to find the perfect system off the shelf without customization. Also be prepared to speak about timelines and a phased implementation approcah by priority dependent upon complexity and customization that will be required.

Good luck.

Geoff.
