Here is a cool hack that I developed for Facebook, in case some of you don't know it already. So, one of the complaints that I often hear about when suggesting that you source from Facebook is that most of the profiles are not open, and you have to make a friend request to see if the person is the right profile...and if they don't accept etc, etc.... So I put my head to this problem and came up with a work around. Facebook is always trying to show you the information that you are looking for except in the case of high level information like name. So what you can do to see all profile information is go to the Search bar in the upper right hand mainpage in Facebook, you will see a small drop down arrow next to the word "Search". Press on the arrow and select a profile search. You can then search on any category other than name and bam, all of a sudden all the profiles will be open to you. So for instance, in hiring a Customer Care leader for one of my clients I went to their site and found out who all their clients were, I then went to Facebook and using the hack above found people working for the identified companies by searching on the company name at the bottom of the profile search...I was then able to view their entire profile and most folks will also add their title to their profile if they have added an employer. You can then message the folks that you have found and given that most Facebook users check their profiles at least once a day they usually will respond to me within a 24hr period. The only restriction to this hack is that you will only be able to see people in your own network, so sometimes it's a good idea to change your network (geography) if you want to target individuals in a specific geography, be warned however that Facebook will only allow you to change your geographic network twice every 60 days.
