You may remember my blog a couple of weeks ago, the one where I suggested that rarely does much come along in recruitment that is truely new or innovative? I might just eat my words (again)! I spent some time with the folks behind Bohire last week, and left the meeting energized and amazed at the possibilities. Eluta has taken the job boards on with their tool, now Bohire is taking the traditional referral to the next level with their external referral platform.

The concept is simple yet powerful - “referrers” put forth candidates for advertised roles for eligibility to collect varying amounts of referral dollar bonuses from “employers”. As a former leader of several recruitment functions (all with big referral program budgets), I have seen the power of the almighty referral first hand. Using this potential source of hire is a no-brainer from my perspective, as it’s free to sign -up and get the Bohire referral community recruiting for you. Most organizations are onside with incenting employees to recruit, so why not expand this referral network to include those from outside your organization? You don’t have to be a math wiz to figure out that this alternative is far less expensive than the search firms that many of us have grown to rely on.
