Big increase in self-employed provides Canadian jobs surprise

OTTAWA - A surprisingly big increase in the number of self-employed workers in Canada last month has provided a sign that the deepest recession in decades could be approaching bottom, although observers say it's too soon to say the labour market recovery is at hand.

Not the "Whole Truth"

I think this information can be a false tease into the reality. What is happening is that more “consultants” are entering the workspace due to lay-off’s, job scarcity and truly a desire to do something “they want to do”.

In recruiter land, just look around, how many recruiters do you know that are doing their “own thing”?

Don’t get too excited, every indicator I see says we’re in for a rough 2009 and start of 2010.
