Hello everyone. As you may have noticed, I took a little break from the blogging world in 2009. It wasn't that I didn't have anything interesting to say, life got busy and I simply stopped making the time. The good/bad news is that I am back.....and I have so much to talk about!!

Let's start 2010 off right, with 10 recruitment trend and strategy predictions:

1) The ice is starting to come off recruitment in 2010, but hiring will continue to be conservative over the first 2 quarters. We expect things to pick up considerably in quarters 3 and 4

2) Our biggest recruitment challenge in 2010 will be wading through larger pools of available talent, and to be more selective in choosing the “great from good” candidates

3) More focus on the Candidate Experience (internal and external)

4) Traditional ATS’s being passed over for CRM platforms. Think sales and marketing – candidate generation and nurturing programs

5) Back to more human interaction within a recruitment process rather than relying on technology to simply screen out candidates

6) More “efficient” Recruitment – less budget and resources

7) Using Social Networking mediums to source – hunting made easier with online identities. The continued decline of the traditional job boards

8) Increased focus on recruiting a flexible and contingent workforce. Continued trend towards contract and project based employment relationships

9) Recruitment is complicated, and is increasingly becoming a more specialized field – Sourcing Specialists, Employer Brand Specialists, Social Media Experts, Recruitment Business Partners, etc

10) Lastly – more hires in 2010 over 2009 means great things for our industry. We should be optimistic after a very tough 2009
